If you are considering waiting until summer (Term 133) before taking English 102, you should be aware that students need at least a grade C in English 101 before they can register for English 102 in summer. This rule does not apply to registering for English 102 next semester (Term 132).

If you are now an English 102 student and you are considering taking English 214 in summer (133), note that you need a course grade in English 102 of at least C. If you get a D or D+ in English 102, you will not be allowed to take English 214 in summer.
Note also that it is recommended that English 214 students should be at least at the second-semester sophomore level. This is advisable because students need some background in their major in order to write a major report in English 214.
