First of all, what do chemical engineers do? Chemical engineers are involved in the creation of useful products by means of chemical reactions and/or physical changes (e.g. things that we wear, eat, and use). They do this by applying the basic principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science and economics to industrial and other processes.
- Chemical engineers are highly versatile people who find employment in a wide variety of industries.
- We have a co-op programme - you can earn money and gain valuable experience during your studies.
- We have many electives. Also, we believe that we will be the first Saudi university to offer a dual-degree program in chemical and environmental engineering. All of these options can open many doors for you in multi-disciplinary job markets.
- We have a unique undergraduate pilot plant scale laboratory. This facility is recognized as one of the top installations of its kind in the country. This laboratory will help you get the engineering knowledge and the hands-on experience you need.
- Many of our students go on to be locally recognized for the research work they do. A number of these students end up pursuing Master’s or Doctorate degrees.
- Our department together with ARAMCO run an active chapter of the AIChE. This organization puts you in touch with other Chemical Engineer across the world and gives you an opportunity to go on plant tours and meet other engineers (including possible future employers). The student club also organizes many social events where students, faculty and distinguished visitors mingle.
- Our professors are engaged in exciting research in fields such as membrane science, process modelling, polymer reaction engineering, biotechnology, environmental engineering, oil recovery, to name but a few.
- We have excellent computer facilities, including state-of-the-art software for computer aided design and data acquisition. We also use computers extensively in teaching whether as computer-assisted learning, presentation tools, or in your assignments.
- You can take advantage of the ELC program of KFUPM to improve your language & knowledge of English.
- As a part of KFUPM campus, we are close to many libraries, research centers and other attractions that make KFUPM such a great place to live, work and play!
I hope to see one day as a chemical engineering student .
Thank you
